The SISV-APFM Accredited Managing Agent “AMA” Scheme was launched 17 years ago, in 2003, by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan (the then Minister of State, Ministry of National Development). Over the years, it has been recognized and widely accepted by stakeholders in the property management industry.

In keeping with the objectives of the amended Building (Strata Management) Act 2004 (BSMA), APFM and SISV has enhanced the AMA Scheme by instituting a structured training course leading to the certification: CPFM (Accredited) [Certified Property & Facility Manager (Accredited)].

In a year's time, from 12 February 2021 onwards, Managing Agents firms that wish to be accredited under this enhanced AMA Scheme will be required to have 30% of their staff, who provide advice on the provisions of the BMSM Act, be certified as CPFM (Accredited). The requirement for staff to be certified as CPFM (Accredited) will be increased to 50% from February 2022 and to 70% from February 2023.

We are pleased to announce that this enhanced AMA Scheme was formalized with the signing of a MOU between BCA and APFM on 12 February 2020.
